Day 18

Assalamu alaikum!

Alhamdulillah we had an awesome day today, for some reason the children seemed to be full of energy and exceptionally excited to be at school today!

We started off our day finishing off some phonics work in our books.  We then read our two morning duaas, followed by our morning rug time.  We talked about our weekends, sang our calendar songs, and practiced our new pattern on the calendar.

We have a new schedule! Some of the subjects have been shuffled around, insha'Allah I will be sending you a copy of our new schedule within the next couple of day.

We went to the library where teacher Nancy read us a story about making a story :).  Insha'Allah we will be bringing home books on our next library visit.  Teacher Nancy is organizing the annual Terry Fox run, the JKs and SKs will take part in this fundraising campaign by bringing in a toonie ($2) for Terrry.  The money will go towards cancer research funds.  Please visit this link for more details: .

For math class we played a game of Numbers Bingo, this allowed me to assess the students ability to recognize the numbers 1-20 in a fun and interactive way.

During Quraan class, the students are still working on Surat At-takathur, teacher Ibtissam has asked that you help review the first two ayas with your child at home.

The weather was gorgeous today and alhamdulillah we got to enjoy it outside where the students got to go on a seashell hunt in the sand box!  Thank you to teacher Nermin, for this fabulous idea.

In the afternoon we practiced reading during our DEAR (drop everything and read) time.  We also started talking about things we NEED vs. things we WANT, this is a concept that was a little bit to hard for some of the children to grasp, as many of their beloved belongings feel like NEEDS :)

Our last period today was French and we worked on activite 3A. With the following sentences:
- Le chat Micha regarde le ciel.
-La poule Maboule court.
-Le mouton Fiston entre dans la caverne.

*** Please remember that tomorrow is the Tuesday Group's Show & Tell.  The topic is favourite stuffed toy.

Have a great evening!
