We've been keeping busy!

Assalamu alaikum!

Alhamdulillah we've had a very busy and productive couple of days.

In language we are working on our writing skills and trying to write some words independently.  This morning the students took part in an activity where they had to search for some high-frequency words in a short story.  This activity will help the child recognize these high-frequency words as they appear in text.

In science we are working on our "living & non-living" theme, alhamdulillah this morning the students got to be scientists and had a chance to take part in two hands-on science activities.   With the help of Tr.Amina (head of science department) we set up the class with 3 microscopes, and the children had the chance to look at different slides containing samples taken from living creatures. i.e. bee's leg, feather, camel hair, hare hair, and bamboo shoot.  The students then recorded their findings using illustrations.  It was very rewarding seeing how involved the children were in this activity.

In math the children have finished learning all of their number words from 1-10 and we are now working on a unit on measurement.  We will be focusing on using the terms: longer than, shorter than, equal to  - lighter than, heavier than, and of the same weight.

In Islamic Studies we now have 5 duaas memorized masha'Allah.  We will be focusing on the steps of wudu' through a fun song, insha'Allah next Friday the students will have the chance to practice making their on real wudu'.

In physical education the students had lots of fun doing different warm-ups that help stretch out their muscles, followed by popular games such as: ant tag, and pac-man.

In art we will be working on our dioramas insha'Allah.
