Assalamu alaikum!
It is our fourth week of school, and alhamdulillah we have gotten really good at following classroom rules, and routines. Some of the students already enjoyed rewards for reaching 50 DOJO points, they are now working towards getting 100 points!
Yesterday we introduced the letter Ss to students, and we learned the sound that the letter S makes through a nice story. We also brainstormed for words that begin with S, and I was amazed at the children's ability to figure out beginning sounds.
In math we are working on counting by 1's and by 5's, and we will be working on the number words - one and -two.
In science we talked about the changes that happen in the fall, and we had fun singing the song The Leaves are Falling Down, and The Four Seasons song in Arabic and in English.
During French class monsieur Said, worked with us on the french song le petit poisson, and we worked on some new vocabulary.
During Arabic class we worked in our workbooks and have started the letter -baa.
In Quraan class we have started our new sura: surat Al-Takathur.
Have a great evening everyone!

Day 11 - Terrific Tuesday
Assalamu alaikum!
Today we started off our morning with some Quraan with teacher Ebtissam, the children got some wonderful Eid gifts from the treasure box.
We had our morning calendar and we talked about what we all had for breakfast, it is really important to help your child get a head start to their day by providing them with a healthy and nutritious breakfast.
We then worked on a very colourful Eid craft, the children practiced gluing, and painting, and the product is now hanging in our hallway.
In gym class we divided the class into six teams, and we had some skill-building relay races.
The weather was perfect for outdoor play today alhamdulillah, please send sun hats with your children every day.
In Arabic teacher Salam, showed the children their new workbooks and they had lots of fun completing the first two pages "bint" and "walad".
We had some free play at the end of the day alhamdulillah.
Have a great evening,

Day 9 - Fabulous Friday
Assalamu alaikum everyone,
we had a fabulous Friday today! We started off our day as usual with some fun educational centres until it was time for Arabic with teacher Salam. We worked in our booklets and practiced writing the letter alif with fatha, dumma, and kasra.
After Arabic we went to the gym for some warm-ups, followed by a competitive game of Alien Tag, the children were really good sports and there were no tears when they were tagged by the aliens, mashallah.
We talked about pets, and we introduced our class to our new stuffed pets, Aurora the dog and Gizmo the tiger. These pets will be taking turns visiting the children's homes insha'Allah.
During Quraan time we did our final review, and we will be starting with our new sura on Monday insha'Allah.
Because it's Friday, we got to enjoy two treats, we got to watch a Leap Frog video, and we got to enjoy some small freezies alhamdulillah.
In Islamic Studies we talked about all the different places muslims come from and we looked at the globe to help us see where Saudi Arabic is. We made wudu' and prayed two ra'kas and made tasbeeh and du'aa.
In French class we learned a new song le petit poisson, and we really enjoyed performing the actions that go along with the song.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Assalamu alaikum!
We started off our day today with half an hour of free play that included cup stacking, and small object sorting.

Day 4
Assalamu alaikum!
The SK2 students are getting used to their morning routine, they come into the classroom and go straight to the sign-in table to sign in. We had our morning centre time followed by Arabic with ustatha Salam.
We read our morning message, and some students were able to read the message on their own masha'Allah!
We are practicing counting and patterning through our calendar, we are also learning the names of the months of the year, and the days of the week.

Since we don't nap on Fridays we had a brief resting time instead, we rested while watching Leap Frog's Word Factory.
On Fridays we have our small Friday halaqa, today we talked about the importance of saying assalamu alaikum, and the importance of replying to the salaam. We all took part in a pretend wudu' through a fun interactive song, and then we proceeded in praying 2 raka' in our classroom. Please make sure you send in a prayer rug and hijab for girls every Friday.
We ended our day with a French class with monsieur Said, he introduced himself to the students and tried to remember all their names from last year!
This year we will be sharing photos and behavioural reports through the app ClassDojo, please look in your child's backpack for instructions on how to access your personal account.

Day 3
Assalamu alaikum!
Every morning we start off our day with some educational centres from 8:00 - 8:30, and on Wednesdays until 9:30. These centres are geared towards enhancing the students' fine motor skills, as well as reinforcing whatever we are learning that week.
Today we started off our day with some educational centres followed by Quraan with Tr.Ibtissam, she got to know the students' names and told the children about the benefits of reading and memorizing quraan.
We had a great time in Gym class doing some warm up exercises followed by a nice competitive game of Pizza. Ask your child to tell you what the pizza game is all about.
The students worked on a colouring sheet, and I have to say that I was quite impressed with the students' colouring abilities as well as their ability to properly hold a pencil or crayon.
In the afternoon we had lots of fun reading the story MIX IT UP, this is an interactive story that introduces the concept of mixing colours in a fun and interactive way.
Please remember to fill out the forms that were sent out earlier this week.
Thank you,
Safiah Aghliw
P.S If you have not sent in indoor shoes with your child, please do so ASAP. Indoor shoes need to be rubber-soled shoes that your child can wear in the gym.
