SK2 - Week 4 Updates!

As-salamu-alaikum wa Rahmatullah,

We have finished a fun learning week 4 in SK2 Alhamdulillah. Here are some updates from last week:

Language Arts: We reviewed and practiced tracing letters "L" to "V." Also, "All about Me, Tee" posters are displayed in the hallway near SK2.

Math: We reviewed, practiced, traced and printed numbers "4" to "6".

Science: In Science, first we watched a movie related to the four seasons and discussed it as a class. Then, students made their mini booklet on four seasons.

Islamic Studies: Alhamdo-lillah , we are practicing and memorizing our classroom motto from Surah Taha (verse 25), as an opening dua in circle time everyday. We also started to practice a beautiful Nasheed "I am a Muslim, the things I say...Alhamdo-lillah". Please help your child practice at home as well.

Here is a YouTube link:

We started learning about Hajj by reading a book "The builders of the Kabah". We will be doing more activities regarding Hajj in the upcoming days insha-Allah.

Visual Arts: We coloured, glued and cut different shapes. Then, we put it together in a form of a person. It showed me how my students use their fine motor skills, their art concepts, and how they follow simple directions regarding visual arts. Masha-Allah, students had lots of fun in this activity.

SK2 - Weekly Updates!

As-salamu-alaikum wa Rahmatullah,

We have finished another exciting week Alhamdulillah. Students are getting into their classroom routines. They start the day by playing with the play dough which improves their hand strength, hand-eye co-ordination, imagination and motor skills.

In Language Art, we reviewed alphabets up to letter K. Also, we read a special book "David Goes to School" and talked about behaviour at school. This book will help them learn the classroom rules insha-Allah.

We also created a pocket chart to compare and contrast of "Good choices" and "Bad choices" for our classroom rules. Students sorted different picture cards to compare and contrast the two choices. They all totally got the idea, and throughout the week, it was helpful to refer back to this chart.

In Number Sense and Numerations, we reviewed the number "3" by tracing, printing and colouring in the worksheet.

Alhamdo-lillah, we finished all the presentations of "It's All About Me, Tee." Students did a great job presenting their Tee's and It was a great learning experience for the whole class.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I would like to welcome everyone back to the new school year and express some of the excitement that we will be having in Arabic class. The curriculum this year enables the student to learn the basics of the Arabic language by using different methods. These methods encourage eagerness to participate in class while earning in a fun, social and active context that feels psychologically comfortable and safe.

For our first semester, we will insha Allah cover the following:

  • learning the basic phonetics with the different harakats of the alphabet letters (Alif to Dal);
  • recognizing the different shapes of the same alphabet letter;
  • knowing few words that begin with the same letter;
  • writing the individual alphabet letters correctly;
  • promoting positive Islamic values;
  • improving  thinking skills ; and
  • Practicing oral skills of communication.

The reading and exercise books will remain in the classroom only to be sent home once in a while for you to be able to see your child’s abilities as they progress. You can contact me by email at sbeseiso@abraarschool.com
